The three members of jazz trio Flís originally met in 1998 in FÍH, the icelandic music academy. Then the origin of the three men were quite diverse; a classical drum student, deathmetal rocker with long hair, and a member of icelandic super-pop-group Stjórnin, who played sax and synthesizers. For some strange reason these men made a perfect match and formed a jazz band.

In the beginning traditional jazz was their main subject but they soon found out it was to limited to their expressional needs and the music took a more alternitive direction.

The trio has made music for advertisements, movies and played around with miscellaneous people and miscellaneous musical directions.

2005 was a busy year for the guys, they released three records under their own name, aswell as taking musical direction and session playing on two others; 'Í sólgulu Húsi' by legendary singer Ingibjörg Þorgbergs and 'Kata rokkar' with music by Theódór Einarsson.

At the moment, Flís are comfortable in their new studio, with a brand new record out in the shelfs; a soundtrack to the musical 'Leg' by Hugleikur Dagsson, probably recording yet more new material and hopefully having a lot of fun...
