Jóhann has produced and written music with artists as diverse as Marc Almond ("Stranger Things" album), Barry Adamson and Pan Sonic, The Hafler Trio, Magga Stina and many others. He has also written music for the theatre, documentaries and soundtrack music for 3 feature films. Johann Johannsson has been called the most compelling composer working in Iceland today. About this soundtrack, nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards 2004, Johann says; “This is very much my Reykjavik album. It is written from my deep love for this strange and beautiful little town, which I have been trying to leave for the last 15 years, but never seem to manage completely. It’s odd contradictions, it’s melancholy, it’s energy and it’s hedonism. Much like I believe the film captures quite well the zeitgeist of early 21st century Reykjavik, I tried to do the same with my music”. Reviews: Wired Geiger Nordische-musik |
